Overview of RootsCampSL

Welcome!

"Rules" for RootsCampSL

(Same as regular RootsCamps)

• 1st Rule: You do talk about RootsCamp.
• 2nd Rule: You do blog about RootsCamp.

• 3rd Rule: No pre-scheduled presentations.
• 4th Rule: Learners are experts, and experts are learners.
• 5th Rule: To present a topic, write it in an open discussion slot.
• 6th Rule: Have as many discussions as the room allows.
• 7th Rule: Discussions go on as long as they last.
• 8th Rule: Show support with your comments.
• 9th Rule: Show disinterest with your feet.
• 10th Rule: No tourists.

Process for RootsCampSL Sessions

Guidelines we agreed to:

• We have two scheduled "sessions" each day with interested topics and speakers, 1-2pm, and 2-3pm Pacific each day between now and next tuesday; schedule is on the wiki
• The session convener announces we're getting started and introduces the topic at each session
• The Convener nominates a "secretary"
• Secretary asks everyone present to say "yes" to chatlogging and snapshots and film clips so that we can capture content from the session and continues to ask on an ongoing basis whenever a new person drops in
• Secretary captures snapshots, chatlogs, film clips of the session and posts to the rootscampsl.org wiki and the Flickr group
• The group convener and anyone else in the group who volunteers edits the posted content into useful content-- the "results" of the RootsCamp session, suitable for "publication" on blogs etc... so we end up with a content product as well as social relationships and learning as the results of each RootsCamp session... and those are the "results" of RootsCampSL, along with a group of SL experienced Netroots people ready to cause impact over the next 2 years using this platform...
