1/11/07 chatlog

12:00 Peace Micheline: hi, ruby, i can't stay. will you im me with info?

12:01 Ruby Glitter: Hi. the best thign to do is join our Google group where we send updates.

12:01 Ruby Glitter: there should be a link to it from www.rootscampsl.org

12:02 Ruby Glitter: I feel like I'm alwat rearranging the furniture.. ;-)

12:03 Ruby Glitter: Hey errcheck, Old.

12:03 Old McDunnough: hi

12:03 Ruby Glitter: Welcome, Snatch.

12:03 errcheck Hicks: Hi Ruby, Old, Snatch!

12:03 Drew Frobozz: hi folks!

12:03 Snatch March: hi

12:03 Ruby Glitter: Wow, Drew!

12:03 Old McDunnough: I have a class to prep for, so I'm only here for about 30 minutes

12:03 errcheck Hicks: Refreshing Demonstration in front of Le Pen's office right now

12:05 Ruby Glitter: Errcheck, do you know if Ana is coming?

12:05 errcheck Hicks: I have set up two skyboxes and a teleporter here.

12:05 Ruby Glitter: Huh?

12:05 errcheck Hicks: I dunno about Ana, I IMed her, maybe she'll get the email

12:06 errcheck Hicks: Skyboxes are just house like things way up in the sky

12:07 errcheck Hicks: My purpose is to just have storage for Netroots/End the war now resources

12:07 Ruby Glitter: I'd like to have things here be more organized, especially so newcomers can find stuff.

12:07 Multi Gadget v1.50.0 by Timeless Prototype

12:07 Ruby Glitter: Also I'm afraid someone malicious could leave somethign here and it might look liek somethign friendly.

12:08 Ruby Glitter: Do you want to maybe collect your stuff into a War & Peace area that you can curate?

12:08 errcheck Hicks: That is a good idea

12:08 Drew Frobozz: hey Nobody

12:08 Ruby Glitter: Plus I can't move things, liek this box in the middle of the circle. :-\

12:08 Nobody Fugazi: hey Drew :-)

12:08 Ruby Glitter: Howdy, nobody.

12:09 Ruby Glitter: What's with the flames?

12:09 Nobody Fugazi: hi Ruby :-)

12:09 errcheck Hicks: You cold or something?

12:09 Nobody Fugazi: oh, just like to keep warm

12:09 Drew Frobozz: so there was a lot of political activity in SL since our last meeting that might be nice to recap, in addition to doing j27 organizing... but would be nice to have some more folks!

12:10 Ruby Glitter: Hm, OK.

12:10 errcheck Hicks: Behold, a Robbie Conal Poster collection, free to all attendees

12:10 Ruby Glitter: Drew, can you facilitate today? Or do we have any volunteers?

12:10 Drew Frobozz: and I agree that organizing this space would be a great activity too

12:10 Drew Frobozz: I'd love to get that guest book back that we used to have at the old venue Ruby.

12:10 Drew Frobozz: I could facilitate but have to leave at 1pm sharp

12:11 Ruby Glitter: OK. I didn't own the guest book so it wasn't returned to me. I'll ask Kronos.

12:11 Ruby Glitter: i also have some privacy issues with it...

12:11 Ruby Glitter: Ok, I'll facilitate from 1 to 1;30, then I also have to go.

12:12 Drew Frobozz: yeah we'd want a policy on it... an alternative would be a very easy way for someone dropping in off-hours to find out how to join the SL Netroots group

12:12 Nobody Fugazi: umm. I'm actually working on something like that, Drew. :-)

12:12 errcheck Hicks: I can make a poster - join-up poster

12:12 Drew Frobozz: outstanding! :)

12:13 errcheck Hicks: How about with the WPA - Rosie Riverter Poster

12:13 Nobody Fugazi: working on a drupal module to accept chat logs, but having a problem on the LSL end with requesting permissions right now. Always the details.

12:14 Ruby Glitter: That reminds me: I have all the chot logs saved, but I haven't posted them to the google group. I'll try to do that soon.

12:14 Ruby Glitter: er, chAt logs

12:14 errcheck Hicks: I bought a distributed kiosk system, there is one behind me

12:14 Ruby Glitter: Errcheck, can you collect all the things you have put here into one general area?

12:15 Ruby Glitter: Hi Znetlady.

12:15 Nobody Fugazi: real atms. Froody.

12:15 errcheck Hicks: Well ,yeah, it's in the sky boxes, but I could bring the structure down here closer to the ground

12:15 Znetlady Isbell: Hi

12:15 errcheck Hicks: Hi Znetlady

12:16 Ruby Glitter: I mean all the stuff that is here one the ground.

12:16 errcheck Hicks: I also have put a rss displayer, also behind me

12:16 Nobody Fugazi: (pick your toys up?) :-D

12:16 Drew Frobozz: so here's a possible agenda... suggest we move pretty quickly through it

12:16 Drew Frobozz: so, 1) J27 event organizing, 2) Organizing of this physical RootsCamp venue, 3) recap of other political events in SL recently (Capitol Hill etc.), 4) idea of a United Nations in SL, 5) marketing/recruitment for this group and wiki problems...

12:17 errcheck Hicks: Some of the items here I also cannot move, but hey, Drew should be able to

12:17 Drew Frobozz: suggestions / additions / gripes re: agenda?

12:17 Ruby Glitter: is #4 time-sensttive? I propose we move that to the end or another meeting.

12:17 errcheck Hicks: Darfur Event recap

12:17 Old McDunnough: Could we start with the tech problems?

12:17 Drew Frobozz: (nobody can move any object here too)

12:17 Ruby Glitter: problems?

12:17 Old McDunnough: I have about 10 minutes, and getting information from missed meetings would be helpful

12:18 Nobody Fugazi: actually, we can't move all objects.

12:18 Drew Frobozz: sounds good Ruby-- #4 to end or next week

12:18 Nobody Fugazi: only those set to group.

12:18 Old McDunnough: I don't seem to get any emails and I don't know where to find summaries or project notes. Is there anything being accumulated on any of the websites?

12:18 errcheck Hicks: We can ask the oenwers to deal, or Drew can return

12:19 Nobody Fugazi: I can return as well.

12:19 Ruby Glitter: As I said, I have been hoarding the meeting minutes.

12:19 Ruby Glitter: I'll work posting them ot the google group right now.

12:19 Drew Frobozz: just jot down a list of things you need us to do on a notecard and we'll return items, etc.

12:19 Drew Frobozz: how about posting to the wiki as well?

12:20 errcheck Hicks: I have a notecard which is more like a summary plus some brainstorm ideas, i have been giving it out, takers?

12:20 Drew Frobozz: sure errcheck

12:20 Nobody Fugazi: hmm. on a tech note, I should probably look at the xml-rpc for a wiki.

12:21 errcheck Hicks: The Kiosk, the white one on a stand behind me, can also give out that notecard

12:21 Drew Frobozz: the wiki could be a strong driver of getting more people to find out about what we do here, and getting more people to get in here... very little effort could spread the word a long way and get a lot of traffic ot rootscampsl.org.

12:21 Drew Frobozz: but NOI had to lock it down because of a malicious editor

12:21 Nobody Fugazi: only one problem with that kiosk - it has about 4 lights on it which makes it laggy.

12:21 Drew Frobozz: and apparently pbwiki has few permissions capabilities

12:22 Drew Frobozz: just a single master password

12:22 Nobody Fugazi: ahh. ok. hrm.

12:22 Old McDunnough: Sorry, some tech things came up here IRL. I have to jet. I would love to be able to go to a site and contribute to ideas or have a tangible list of things I could do. That would also be helpful in getting others involved.

12:22 Drew Frobozz: so they're looking for a better solution

12:22 errcheck Hicks: There are about 6 kiosks that came in the package, I try to make a more lightweight one

12:22 Drew Frobozz: and one possibility would be for us to launch a different site / wiki / community at rootscampsl.org

12:22 errcheck Hicks: It's from Sasun Steinbeck who is supportive

12:22 Old McDunnough: Ruby, if you could send an email when the notes are up, I'll check in later to catch up.

12:22 Old McDunnough: later.

12:22 Znetlady Isbell: That's not true about pbwiki - it now has individual permission

12:22 Nobody Fugazi whispers Drupal.

12:23 Drew Frobozz: ok good to know znetlady

12:23 Nobody Fugazi: peanutbutter wiki :-)

12:23 errcheck Hicks: Fighting comment spam and abuse is a big job nowadays

12:23 Ruby Glitter: PL, Old.

12:23 Znetlady Isbell: I just set my wiki up there and the user permissions were just instituted.

12:23 Drew Frobozz: and yes I'd love a drupal site, but people love pbwiki's simplicity

12:23 Ruby Glitter: Er, OK. But he's already gone.

12:24 Nobody Fugazi: well, then there will have to be some work on automating data transfer from SL to the wiki.

12:24 Drew Frobozz: great I'll let NOI know and hopefully they can relaunch the wiki and start to promote again

12:24 Nobody Fugazi: copy and paste is a real riot, I know, but... what if you didn't have to? :-)

12:25 Ruby Glitter: what do you mean by "relanuch?"

12:25 Ruby Glitter: er, relaunch. sorry

12:25 errcheck Hicks: Copy Paste and EDIT!

12:25 Ruby Glitter: right now they are giving out the password to organizers manually.

12:26 Drew Frobozz: well, put some effort into gardening it (cleaning it up), capturing what has been done to date more coherently, and establishing some guidelines for use going forward

12:26 Drew Frobozz: but especially invest some modest effort in getting people to look at RootsCamp, whether in SL or beyond, as an ongoing community, rather than a bunch of events that are now over

12:26 Ruby Glitter: Ah yes. it could use some love.

12:27 Drew Frobozz: anyway, that's what i'd encourage NOI to do.

12:27 Drew Frobozz: for our part wit RootsCampSL we can do what we want

12:27 errcheck Hicks: I think the ongoing events build community

12:27 Drew Frobozz: but obviously if Rootscamp in RL is vibrant, our work here will have more impact

12:27 Ruby Glitter: OK, the notes will be posted at https://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSLminutes as they become available.

12:27 Drew Frobozz: cool

12:29 Nobody Fugazi: afk a sec

12:29 Drew Frobozz: the wiki doesn't build community in isolation obviously, so what suite of tools do people think would be ideal? Google group has a different set of users than the pbwiki has and different again than the SL avatars that are here...

12:29 Drew Frobozz: it's an interesting challenge when a natural community is fractured by its tools/platforms... ;)

12:30 errcheck Hicks: I have been seeking out AV's whose profiles indicate that they might be good people to participate in distributed peace activities

12:31 Drew Frobozz: nobody is doing some drupal<--> SL integration work to that end, but I wonder if anyone has really figured out the best approach that can be used TODAY to integrate SL community <--> other online community <---> RL community

12:31 errcheck Hicks: Like Poets, Artists, Musicians, BTW Doubledown Tardino is onboard for any DJ'ing we may need

12:32 Drew Frobozz: great errcheck... what would be the optimal way from your standpoint to get those AVs you find loooped in? Joining your SL group? joining a broader activist SL group?

12:32 Ruby Glitter: Hi Viggo!

12:32 errcheck Hicks: Hi Viggo

12:32 Viggo Engebretsen: hi all

12:32 Drew Frobozz: hi Viggo

12:32 Znetlady Isbell: I have to say I've had good luck with blog/SL group combination. My group is 150+ right now.

12:33 errcheck Hicks: Well, there has to be some momentum and buzz built, I actually get some of the "we dont' want to offend anybody" type resistance

12:33 errcheck Hicks: So joining a cause must seem more urgent

12:33 Viggo Engebretsen listens carefully

12:34 errcheck Hicks: As if Bush's Surge isn't enough

12:34 errcheck Hicks: I saw the phrase "Peace Surge" used, which is a nice short slogan

12:34 Drew Frobozz: znetlady, what's your blog URL and what technology runs it, and how do you get people from the blog --> your SL group, and vice-versa?

12:35 Znetlady Isbell: blog is at http://freshtakes.typepad.com/sl_communicators

12:35 Znetlady Isbell: I have a prominent area telling people to join - it has grown from 0 to 150 in about 6 weeks.

12:36 errcheck Hicks: What do you mean by area?

12:36 Znetlady Isbell: Upper right real estate on the blog.

12:36 Znetlady Isbell: Plus I point to the wiki

12:37 Drew Frobozz: you point to the wiki where?

12:37 errcheck Hicks: Good, nicely laid out

12:37 Znetlady Isbell: In the right navigation.

12:38 Znetlady Isbell: The point is you can drive a lot of eyeballs combining a blog with wiki, make it *look* like a community and not just separate elements.

12:38 Znetlady Isbell: It's what I do for a living. :-)

12:38 Drew Frobozz: interesting... blog + wiki

12:39 Znetlady Isbell: blog + wiki + using in world group effectively.

12:39 Drew Frobozz: well done

12:39 Drew Frobozz: ok so the take-home from this I think is that we can continue w/ pbwiki if it now has individual permissions

12:39 Drew Frobozz: and I've let NOI know that

12:39 Ruby Glitter: I don't think it does.

12:39 Ruby Glitter: it's just a less public password.

12:40 Drew Frobozz: but we need to garden it, tell people prominently how to join SL Netroots group in SL etc.

12:40 Drew Frobozz: oh really?

12:40 errcheck Hicks: I just added your blog to the RSS displayer behind me

12:40 Ruby Glitter: but we could start our own pbwiki or use another platform.

12:40 Ruby Glitter: yes, FYI all: the password is "badcamper"

12:40 Znetlady Isbell: pbwiki has individual permission - each person who want to contribute needs a pbwiki, so you can control editors/moderators/contributors.

12:41 Znetlady Isbell: All the password management is done by the user however.

12:41 Znetlady Isbell: needs a pbwiki identity, sorry

12:41 Drew Frobozz: can you block / ban malicious people from posting to your wiki?

12:41 Znetlady Isbell: yes - the admin has total control.

12:41 Znetlady Isbell: It is a really nice upgrade that just went live a few weeks ago.

12:41 Nobody Fugazi: by IP address, maybe. But dynamic ip addresses...

12:42 Znetlady Isbell: Well, each person needs a pbwiki - and you have to invite the person.

12:42 Ruby Glitter: but apparernty the rootscamp wiki is not set up this way.

12:42 Ruby Glitter: i think our purposes are growing beyond what they had envisioned anyway.

12:42 Znetlady Isbell: it is simple - the admin just enters the email address and the user handles the rest.

12:42 Ruby Glitter: so each user has to be created by the admin?

12:43 Znetlady Isbell: no. if someone wants to be a contributor they notify me, I invite them through the system, then they go on and set up an identity...

12:44 Znetlady Isbell: and make their own password. the admin however can uninvite or remove people and given that you have to approve who is allowed to

12:44 Znetlady Isbell: sign up, it is pretty tight.

12:44 Drew Frobozz: Ruby, are you thinking you'd want to launch a Drupal site instead or in addition or something?

12:44 Znetlady Isbell: it takes 5 second.

12:45 Ruby Glitter: no i was not thining about drupal, but it's not a bad idea.

12:45 Drew Frobozz: I would love to be able to take advantage of the SL-Drupal integration work that nobody is doing.

12:45 Ruby Glitter: i was just thinking of getting our own pbwiki account.

12:45 Drew Frobozz: at the least, that makes sense

12:45 Ruby Glitter: I'd be happy to use drupal, actually.

12:45 Nobody Fugazi: heh. Nobody is doing Drupal <->SL integration. Funny. :-)

12:46 Drew Frobozz: until recently, that was an accurate statement.

12:46 Nobody Fugazi: lol it still is.

12:46 Drew Frobozz: now, however, it's an accurate statement

12:46 Ruby Glitter: Ha ha.

12:46 Drew Frobozz: ok anyone want to take on figuring this out / making a recommendation / marshalling a team?

12:47 Drew Frobozz: I think some attention paid to this will yield serious dividends

12:47 Drew Frobozz: in terms of growing this group and growing the impact that this group can have in SL and RL

12:47 Nobody Fugazi: Gerome, please put that bow away.

12:47 Ruby Glitter: hey gerome, please don't point that thing here, it's rude.

12:47 Ruby Glitter: OK....

12:48 Drew Frobozz: well in the absence of volunteers I'd suggest we all take some responsibility for gardening the wiki and making sure it's obvious to people how to sign up for SL Netroots group

12:48 Drew Frobozz: but as soon as anyone is up for working a bit more, I think we should seriously consider a drupal site-- perhaps we need to recruit for that

12:49 Nobody Fugazi: The Drupal site should be easy enough. ;-)

12:49 Drew Frobozz: for now "badcamper" is the pwd on the wiki as Ruby said, so please put on your gardening gloves...

12:50 Drew Frobozz: nobody, if you'd like to create a site and give admin to a few of us that are drupal-savvy, I"m sure that would meet with gratitude...

12:50 errcheck Hicks: I put up a Drupal site and a wiki site last week, but they have my way too busy to take on another, but I could start it

12:50 errcheck Hicks: I mean for another org

12:50 Nobody Fugazi: drupal 5.0?

12:50 errcheck Hicks: The devil is in the details

12:51 errcheck Hicks: err, no I think it was 4.7?? lemmie check

12:51 Nobody Fugazi: yeah, probably 4.7.5 - last stable release. 5.0 is still in RC

12:51 Nobody Fugazi: 5.0 basically installs itself. :-)

12:51 errcheck Hicks: 4.7.4

12:51 Ruby Glitter: Welcome Antonio.

12:51 Antonio Rocco: Hi there

12:51 Drew Frobozz: I'd recommend 5.0 as long as someone can pay attention to patches...

12:52 errcheck Hicks: It wasn't too hard, I had to edit one file I believe

12:52 Nobody Fugazi: with 5.0, you don't edit the files - the installation edits the files.

12:52 Ruby Glitter: Hi dozzydolly.

12:52 Drew Frobozz: Nobody and errcheck, can you connect offline and figure out who can most easily deploy and host a site?

12:52 dozzydolly Biziou: hi everyone!

12:52 Drew Frobozz: this wouldn't be a corporate project Nobody, but perhaps Trellon would be willing to donate the hosting

12:52 Nobody Fugazi: heh. I'm working on modules, so ...

12:53 Ruby Glitter: feel free to join our meeting. we are doing progressive organizing in SL and makign plans for the jan 27 march on wachington.

12:53 Nobody Fugazi: Whichever, whatever, whenever. We'll figure it out.

12:53 Znetlady Isbell: Sorry, but I have to jump into RL. I'd be happy to work on ideas for promoting the group, wiki, etc. Can't do a lot of hands on as I'm pretty maxed there, but I can lend some expertise in that area.

12:53 errcheck Hicks: Thanks for being here Znetlady!

12:53 Drew Frobozz: ok we'll leave it to you two to decide before nect week's meeting. then we can migrate content from the pbwiki and when ready, point the URL over

12:53 Znetlady Isbell: See you all.

12:54 Drew Frobozz: great contribution znetlady--thank you!

12:54 errcheck Hicks: Hi Bemie

12:54 Drew Frobozz: ok Ruby, can you take over for the next phase?

12:54 Drew Frobozz: I have to go shortly I'm afraid.

12:54 Ruby Glitter: OMG how time flies!

12:54 Drew Frobozz: I do want to hear about j27 however

12:54 errcheck Hicks: Time flees

12:54 Ruby Glitter: I've only gotten the monites posted from 2 meetinsg so far.

12:54 Ruby Glitter: Is there anythign else before we get to J27?

12:55 errcheck Hicks: I have the chat log from the meeting 2 weeks ago, most peole on Hiliday break

12:55 Ruby Glitter: Great, you can add it at https://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSLminutes

12:55 Ruby Glitter: So, errcheck can yo ugive a J27 update since Ana is not here?

12:56 Ruby Glitter: ha, she came online!

12:56 Ruby Glitter: Speak of the devil...

12:56 Ruby Glitter: hey, Ana!

12:56 errcheck Hicks: I've been seeking out people who could take on events, Like Peace Poetry, Peace Yoga Lecture, as well as hooking up with some other organizers

12:57 Ruby Glitter: We just finished some other topics and were hoping to discuss J27.

12:57 Ana Herzog: heya. got stuck in traffic

12:57 Ruby Glitter: Can you tell us what's going on?

12:57 errcheck Hicks: Hey, ANA

12:57 Ana Herzog: ask me questions

12:57 Ana Herzog: lol

12:58 errcheck Hicks: I have been working on the Kiosk system and on the rss displayer behind us

12:58 Ana Herzog: i may have opportunity to go to the real thing....

12:59 errcheck Hicks: Outreach to create a number of distrubuted events is crucial i believe

12:59 Ana Herzog: absolutely...

12:59 Nobody Fugazi: errcheck: Just use full bright and no lights, or you'll lag sims with 4 lights. ;-)

12:59 Ana Herzog: aldon is at the media event in TN , right?

12:59 dozzydolly Biziou: I thought I'd stop by to see what this was all about, I'll try to come next time (on time this time). Good luck all!

13:00 errcheck Hicks: Yes, and there is a Demonstration in front of Le Pen's office in SL right now

13:00 Ruby Glitter: Thanks Dozzydolly

13:00 errcheck Hicks: I saw Hayduke and one other NRer there

13:00 Ana Herzog: i was at the le pen rally last evening

13:00 Ruby Glitter: I have an important meetign in RL soon.

13:01 Ana Herzog: I put an event notice out for noon on the 27th at my property .....

13:01 Ana Herzog: others will have to do the same

13:01 Ana Herzog: I can't list events here

13:01 Ruby Glitter: Give Drew a notecard and he can post it for here.

13:02 errcheck Hicks: Oh, I made the T-shirt I am wearing. I believe the organizing work may require going thru the lists of the peace groups and getting people to put up signs

13:02 Ana Herzog: i was thinking that maybe drew could list it.

13:02 Ana Herzog: if everything has to go through me this isn't going to happen

13:02 errcheck Hicks: I hear that

13:02 Ruby Glitter: Post stuff ot the google group, then folks can take on different parts.

13:03 Ana Herzog: i really do not trust google

13:03 Ruby Glitter: that's a valid point.

13:03 errcheck Hicks: Also use group announcements, IM groups, Propagandise ruthlessly

13:03 Ana Herzog: exactly that is what we all have to do.

13:04 Ruby Glitter: it's just that e-mail is the only way to reach peopel in a timely way. i cannot (and don't want to) come to Sl every day.

13:04 Ana Herzog: i understand that, but you can set your sl notices to forward to email

13:05 errcheck Hicks: Yes, that works great fome me

13:05 Ana Herzog: I really want to get away from email

13:05 Ana Herzog: mine is all read

13:05 Ruby Glitter: yes, but I can't reply from e-mail.

13:05 Ruby Glitter: let's start right now: what all needs ot get done? Posting announcements....

13:06 Ana Herzog: announcements of what?

13:06 Ana Herzog: is anyone taking on any sessions?

13:06 errcheck Hicks: Event coordinators need recruitment

13:06 Ana Herzog: no one is stepping forward with strong arming so i am going to start doing that

13:06 Ruby Glitter: Welcome, Alex.

13:07 errcheck Hicks: Yeah!!!

13:07 Alex Delpaso: hello

13:07 Ana Herzog: Morris will do the sunday speakers

13:07 Ruby Glitter: We are planning activities for january 27th.

13:07 Ana Herzog: can we post to the netroots wiki yet?

13:07 Alex Delpaso: whats happening here?

13:07 Ruby Glitter: Can you give me notecard about J27 again?

13:08 Ana Herzog: we don't really have one.

13:08 Ruby Glitter: Alex , this is a weekly meetup of progressive activists. We are discussing plans for Janaury 27th.

13:08 Alex Delpaso: hehe ok maybe i should leave :D

13:08 Ana Herzog: what do we want to have happen on this island?

13:08 Ruby Glitter: Ana you don't trust Google, but you trust strangers in SL with information...?

13:09 errcheck Hicks: i HAVE ONE I will give you both, I just had to make something. please keep me updated

13:09 Ruby Glitter: that guy alex was probably a nark. ;-)

13:09 errcheck Hicks gave you Jan 27 Ideas.

13:09 Ana Herzog: i have had my computer drive sabotaged 7 times in the past year. been arrested.....

13:09 Ana Herzog: i don't like email

13:09 errcheck Hicks: There is no security on the internet

13:10 Ruby Glitter: but there is even less sucruty here.

13:10 Ruby Glitter: you have no idea who you are talking to most of the time

13:10 Ana Herzog: sure.... but i doubt i have gov. trails here

13:10 errcheck Hicks: Police agents want to gain your trust, it's the disruptive jerks who are a problem

13:10 Viggo Engebretsen: i sadly and late to arrive, and now leave wihtout having don anything butlisten. i AM interested though, and talk among my firends _all of whom i now know IRL as best as one can- about the work done here.

13:10 Viggo Engebretsen: thenk you all

13:10 Viggo Engebretsen: and forgiv e bad typing.

13:11 Viggo Engebretsen: please

13:11 errcheck Hicks: surrrrrrrrrrre

13:11 Viggo Engebretsen: lol

13:11 Ana Herzog: :-)

13:11 Viggo Engebretsen: very sticky keyboard and not time, no time. electrician coming to chck our wiring in the old house

13:13 Ana Herzog: what we need is a central place to list events

13:14 Ana Herzog: a web page

13:14 Ruby Glitter: For now, I think the wiki is an OK place for that.

13:14 Ana Herzog: so people can add theires

13:14 Ruby Glitter: yes.

13:14 Ana Herzog: i tried to get on and it wouldn't let me on....

13:14 Ana Herzog: is there a trick to getting on the wiki?

13:14 Ruby Glitter: What's w/ all the n00bs today?

13:15 Ruby Glitter: yes, the trick that the password is "badcamper"

13:15 Ana Herzog: Thank You!

13:15 Ruby Glitter: NP. that's https://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSL

13:15 Ruby Glitter: it's kind of a mess, as we wre just discussing earlier. ;-)

13:15 Ana Herzog: that helps tremendously

13:16 Ana Herzog: who was going to make up a bulletin board?

13:16 Ana Herzog: i need to see what they've done

13:16 errcheck Hicks: Ana I set up a skybox here, but I will move it closer to ground, to store stuff for Jan 27

13:16 Ruby Glitter: I just posted the last month of minutes at https://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSLminutes

13:16 Ana Herzog: ok!

13:16 Ruby Glitter: Can we help you, Knucles?

13:16 Ana Herzog: shall I buy a filing cabinet for us?

13:17 Ruby Glitter: what would we do w/ a filing cabinet?

13:17 Ana Herzog: textures

13:17 Ana Herzog: flags

13:17 errcheck Hicks: I dunno, I like seeing everything laid out

13:17 Ruby Glitter: so it organizes objects in SL?

13:17 errcheck Hicks: But I haven't use the filing cabs, thought I did research today

13:17 Ana Herzog: sure but do you want to have totally open access?

13:17 Ana Herzog: so everyone who wants can copy

13:18 Ruby Glitter: Oh I see.

13:18 Ruby Glitter: How m uch are they?

13:18 errcheck Hicks: Um,, why not??, if there is stuff that is private, we can put that separate

13:18 Ruby Glitter: can you make it give access to a Group?

13:18 Ana Herzog: pixel trix makes the best. yes group access is easy

13:18 Ana Herzog: can't remember the price

13:19 Ana Herzog: I'm going to start posting to the j27 list with specifics

13:19 errcheck Hicks: We could go check it out, unless you already have one?

13:19 Ana Herzog: I have one at Commonwealth

13:20 errcheck Hicks: Is it set up for group?

13:20 Ana Herzog: ruby, how shall we denote this-- a coalition

13:20 Ana Herzog: network

13:20 Ruby Glitter: denote what?

13:21 Ruby Glitter: in particular?

13:21 Ana Herzog: the j27 event

13:21 Ana Herzog: organized by..... netroots, codepink, commonwealth, oysterbaay.....

13:21 Ruby Glitter: We could say it's "organized by SL Netroots"

13:21 Ruby Glitter: and by everyone else, yes.

13:22 errcheck Hicks: I like the coalition idea, multiple groups

13:22 Ruby Glitter: "a virtual coalition"

13:22 Ana Herzog: oh i like that!

13:22 Ruby Glitter: .. of REAL activists

13:22 errcheck Hicks: But I have noticed that getting groups to vote on a proposal may be difficult

13:22 Ruby Glitter: that's why e-mail discussions can work better.

13:23 errcheck Hicks: However key endorsements are fine with me,

13:23 Ana Herzog: that is why i made up the j 27 group

13:23 Ruby Glitter: y'all i gotta go!

13:23 Ana Herzog: do we want to have a list of endorsers?

13:23 errcheck Hicks: K Ruby, Keep on

13:23 Ana Herzog: ok thanks..... will talk soon

13:23 Ruby Glitter: thanks, I'll post the notes soon.
